Stirpes, the Journal of the Texas State Genealogical Society

Contact Name: Susan Ball or Sandra Crowley
Contact Email: stirpes@txsgs.org
Why name our journal Stirpes? Pronounced “STÛR’PEZ,” it perfectly describes the core understanding of our passion in researching ancestry and family history. The phrase “… to my heirs, per stirpes” means that the legal heirs share their inheritance based on their relationship to the deceased.

Published four times per year in March, June, September, and December, each issue of Stirpes is focused on a genealogical theme. Themes planned for December 2020 through December 2021 are preservation, early Texans, newspaper research, migration, and DNA. We welcome articles on research on any of our themes or on family research.
