About Us
The primary purpose of the Bay Area Genealogical Society (BAGS) is educational. BAGS engages in activities that promote public interest in genealogy and provides information and assistance to persons interested in local, national, and international genealogical research. We are a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation, a Partner Society of Texas State Genealogical Society, and a member of the Federation of Genealogical Societies. BAGS publications include BAGS Journal containing original articles of historical and genealogical significance and a monthly newsletter of timely items about the Society’s activities and interests.
Meetings
BAGS generally meets the last Friday of each month at 7 pm with programs that feature knowledgeable speakers. In addition, BAGS sponsors genealogical seminars on a variety of topics. Currently, we host these events on virtual platforms. When in-person meetings resume, we meet in Clear Lake City at the University Baptist Church located on 16106 Middlebrook Drive, Houston. See our website for upcoming events.
